Final from Tuesday night out of Johns Creek. This was a well-played game in the rivalry between 2 teams that should fight it out for the #1 seed in the county.

This was a terrific game. SV started out and dominated the first quarter, forcing a punt and then marching down the field to go up 7-0. The next drive they had JC at a 3rd-and-10 and looked like they were going to force a second straight punt, but gave up a long TD on the next play and JC went ahead. Shortly after, SV fumbled on a first down and gave JC a short field at the 30, which they promptly punched in for a 18-7 lead. Valley would then score again on their next drive to cut the JC lead to 18-16 at the half.

The second half was mostly a defensive struggle, as neither team could put together a sustained drive. The game looked like it would go to the Bearcats after Valley went for it and failed on 4th-and-15 with 4 minutes to play. But, a JC fumble gave Valley new life, albeit with only a couple minutes on the clock and over half the field to go. SV had the ball on the 40 with under 20 seconds to go when their QB broke loose for a long game-winning touchdown.

All in all, this was a great game. Looking forward to the rematch at Valley in a few weeks, then possibly another rematch in the county tourney.
Also want to congratulate the Shelby Valley 2nd/3rd graders for winning their shortened game against Johns Creek. Valley won a close one, 14-12.

This game was squeezed into what time there was between the 3rd/4th and 5th/6th games, so it was only the equivalent of about 2 quarters of football, but it was still nice to see the young kids get a chance to play.

Good luck to both teams the rest of the way.
